Lecture by Professor Robert Moffat

Trinity College Law School and the Irish Jurisprudence Society jointly hosted a lecture by Professor Robert Moffat on Monday 25 May 2009.

Professor Moffat’s lecture was entitled:

“Hitler, Hart, and Fuller: The Challenges of Doing Evil Lawfully”

Professor Moffat is Professor of Law and Affiliate Professor of
Philosophy at University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law.

The lecture took place at 7pm in Room 11 in Trinity College Dublin
Law School, House 39 on Monday 25 May.

Gerard Casey’s workshop

The IJS Spring Workshop Series 2009 concludes with Professor
Gerard Casey
, Senior Lecturer in Philosophy, University College
Dublin, presenting his paper:

“Constitutions of No Authority: Spoonerian Reflections”

The workshop will take place at 7pm on Thursday, 30 April. The venue
will be Room 11 in Trinity College Dublin Law School, House 39,
Trinity Campus

Maria Cahill’s workshop

The IJS Spring Workshop Series 2009 continues this week with Dr Maria
Cahill
, Lecturer in Law, University College Cork, presenting her
paper:

“Searching for the Meaning of Constitutional Endeavour”

The workshop will take place at 7pm on Thursday, 16 April. The venue
will be Room 11 in Trinity College Dublin Law School, House 39,
Trinity Campus.

The session will follow the usual format of IJS workshops. That is,
presentation of the paper (up to 40 minutes) followed by discussion.

Frank Dunlop’s workshop

The IJS Spring Workshop Series 2009 continues this week with Mr
Frank Dunlop, PhD Candidate, Trinity College Dublin, presenting his
paper:

“Moral Considerations and the Content of Irish Law: A Razian Perspective”

The workshop will take place at 7pm on Thursday, 2 April. The venue
will be Room 11 in Trinity College Dublin Law School, House 39,
Trinity Campus.

The session will follow the usual format of IJS workshops. That is,
presentation of the paper (up to 40 minutes) followed by discussion.
Though the workshop paper is being pre-circulated via email, but it’s
not required to be read in advance of attending.

James Gallen’s workshop

The IJS Spring Workshop Series 2009 gets under way with Mr
James Gallen, PhD Candidate, Trinity College Dublin, presenting his
paper:

“Outreach: Justice seen to be done”

The workshop will take place at 7pm on Thursday, 19 March. The venue
will be Room 11 in Trinity College Dublin Law School, House 39,
Trinity Campus.

Lecture by Joseph Raz

IJS Annual public lecture

Joseph RazResearch Professor and an Emeritus Fellow of Balliol College, Oxford and Professor of Law, Columbia University, will deliver the IJS’s first annual public lecture in jurisprudence on 25 February 2009.

The title of the lecture isInnovative Interpretation

Chairing this event will be Professor Desmond M Clarke, University College Cork.

The lecture will take place in Trinity College Dublin, in the Lloyd Institute Building (the Lloyd Institute is next to the O’Reilly Institute and the newly founded Science Gallery). The lecture will commence at 7pm.

Paul Brady’s workshop

The fourth and final workshop in the IJS Winter Workshop Series 2008 will take
place Thursday, 4 December at 7pm in Trinity College Dublin Law School
(Room 11 in House 39).
